Tommy & LaVerne Anderson were our missionaries on 5th of March, returning to update us on the work of World Gospel Association. They have just completed a recent trip to the Baby Centre at Ngata Kenya and shared in 2 weeks of Children’s Bible schools in two different Churches.

LaVerne reported on the Bible Schools where over 250 children attended each day. The day begins with breakfast for all the children followed by lots of activities then it’s time to settle down for a time of singing and the Bible lesson. The video of the children singing was a treat to see and hear. Each club concluded with a Sunday service when all the parents attend to hear the children taking part.
One young man who met Tommy said, “You led me to the Lord when I was 5 years old.” He is now part of the worship team in the church. LaVerne told of a man called Isaiah who 3 years ago lost his wife and her sister in a motorcycle accident. The church at Keragon helped his family with shoes and mattresses, but they were living in a little shack. Recently the church people got together and have built him a new corrugated iron bungalow for which he is extremely thankful.
Tommy reported that several of the children in the orphanage have special needs so can’t be adopted into Christian families in the community. A special purpose accommodation block is being built as their forever home. This building is now up to roof level and hopefully will be completed soon.
It was encouraging to learn of the expansion of the hospital at Tenwek. This began as a Cottage Hospital in1937 when 2 Christian nurses opened a small dispensary in an area called by locals 'The Valley of Darkness'. This marked the beginning of Word Gospel Mission in the area. The Hospital has now expanded to such an extent that the area is now known and called The Valley of Light.
W.G.M. has established Africa Gospel Church which has now 2000 congregations.
The Tenwek Hospital has grown enormously and is now one of 5 main teaching hospitals. Dr Rees White, a surgeon, had a vision to further enlarge the hospital to provide a specialist Cardiothoracic unit. Through Sarmatians Purse, God has miraculously provided 30,000,000 to enable the building to be built and equipped with only the very best up to date equipment.
His Cardiothoracic team perform 250 operations each year and hope to increase this to 3000. The moto of the unit is “We treat, Jesus heals!! To get a position as a surgeon in the unit you must have preformed 800 operations before you would be considered for interview.
Tommy concluded the meeting by saying “As Christians have invested in the hospital so we need to invest in the Kingdom of God”.
Matthew chapter 25 verse 35. 'For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in.'
This verse tells us what it is to share. Let us make our mark in this world by Sharing, Caring, and Loving.
